Book$ Club
Work on bookkeeping tasks in a cozy workspace with snacks, drinks, and people getting down to the same grind you are.
Book$ Club is our monthly financial work party. Books - but with a dollar sign - get it?
Sift through reciepts, categorize transactions, plan for your financial month, or work on whatever other bookkeeping tasks you have! We're all in this together, and we find it’s helpful to set aside a chunk of time to sort through documents, financial planning goals, yearly fees, and all that other awful stuff while in good company. Bubbly and snacks also helps.
Jenny Girl Friday, our resident tax and Book$ expert / hype woman, is available for questions, help, and hand holding. Join other self-employed friends and get these tasks done! As people who work for ourselves, we know that these important business-up-keep tasks often get pushed to the bottom of the to-do list. Book$ Club creates that monthly space, a block of four hours, to really dig in. Hope to see you there!
Marketing Mondays
Sip and strategize in solidarity!
We’re excited to announce a new gathering for small businesses at Collective Chemistry! If marketing your business is one of those tasks that just keeps getting pushed to the backburner - this is the club for you.
What is Marketing Club-
A supportive space to gather and work on any project that helps to promote your business. Some of those tasks could be:
Posting or scheduling posts to social media
Working on your email list
Creating a flyer for a future event or just to promote yourself in the local coffee shop
Sending out review requests
Working on your website
It will also be a chance to pose questions to the group and have discussions around what others are doing, what has worked for them, and just generally support each other.
When is it -
Every 4th Monday of the month, from 4pm - 8pm. Feel free to stay for the whole time, or for a window that works for you.
What to bring-
A To-Do list of your marketing projects plus any materials you need for getting things checked off that list. (External hard drive with photos to post, that book of ideas from the last conference you attended, etc)
Questions that a hive mind of fellow entrepreneurs might be able to help with
Laptop, charger, plus any other accessories that will help your workflow
Dinner or snacks and a beverage of choice. We will have a couple basics, a bottle of wine, bubbly water, etc, so bring what you need to keep you energized (and maybe a little treat as a reward because you’re finally making marketing a priority!) There are food trucks outside at the breweries if you need to pop out for something hot!
A note on registering - you will see a "time slot" option for 4pm - click that, but just come whenever works for you! Eventbrite's reoccuring events make us generate time slots.

Patching with Decorative Embroidery
Friend of the space Ravenna Koenig is back and will be teaching us how to mend our own clothing items so that they can live on and look even more fabulous than before.
This will be a cozy night of decorative patching. We’ll be using patterns from different embroidery traditions to stitch our patches to garments and make them look beautiful. We will have all the supplies you will need your clothes, but you are welcome to bring your own supplies as well!
Please bring something to mend! For this one, jeans (or that type of garment) are probably the best to learn on. Denim, carhartt material, etc.
Get inspired by listening to Ravenna's 2023 NPR story “If you want to fix your own clothes, try this easy style of mending.”

October Movie Club - GIALLO WORLD!
Hello beloved butchers, surreal sinners, doomed dames, masked maniacs, and nightmare knaves!
Welcome to a brief glimpse into the world of Giallo! Get ready for whodunit thrillers teeming with violence, twists, the paranormal, and most importantly S T Y L E.
These five films bring tropes galore, harkening back to their 1929 literary origins and the yellow ( aka giallo) covers that coined the genre’s name. Expect masked and gloved killers, unique murder weapons, plenty of red herrings, and oversaturated lighting on dreamlike sets.
As usual, we’ll meet at 6pm at Collective Chemistry EXCEPT FOR OCTOBER 8, as the space is unavailable that day. The location for that screening is TBD, ask Alex for details.
---
October 1: Psychic (Murder to the Tune of Seven Black Notes) (1977)
A woman with psychic powers must embark on an investigation with a paranormal expert to clear her husband’s name and piece together the disturbing visions plaguing her mind. Watch for incredible outfits, architecture, and interior design.
October 8: Deep Red (1975) ••• NOT SCREENING AT COLLECTIVE CHEMISTRY, LOCATION TBD •••
One of Dario Argento’s most celebrated films, this story follows an English pianist who witnesses the murder of his neighbor. Teaming up with a young reporter, the duo works to solve the crime before the killer strikes again.
October 15: Phenomena (1985)
Jennifer Connelly plays a new student at a Swiss boarding school with the unique ability to communicate with insects. When a murderer begins targeting students, she takes matters, and bugs, into her own hands. Can she use her gift to solve the mystery before she becomes the next victim?
October 22: Blood and Black Lace (1964)
Director Mario Bava delivers a masterclass in oversaturated Technicolor nightmares. Drugs, high fashion, and murder make up this proto-slasher masterpiece. Perhaps the most quintessential giallo film on this list.
October 29: Malignant (2021)
Falling into the broadest definition of giallo, this film is absolutely bonkers. James Wan cranks the genre up to 11, splattering the screen with nu-metal energy and a plot unlike anything you’ve seen before.
